Artist Biography

Filip.S is an emerging London based creative and artist. His work became interested in how photography and portraiture could be used as a tool to raise and unpick questions about social stigma’s.

His ongoing project ‘The Fluid Sate’ explores how members of London’s LGBTQ+ community, live with the definitions society creates for them and how they in turn contribute to a new understanding of them. It looks at the role the photographic image plays in helping marginalised groups proves equal worth & moral status within society.

Born in Bydgoszcz, Poland, he found himself wanting to go back to re-discover modern attitudes of ‘Being LGBTQIA+ in Poland’. His project “The Fluid State” was exhibited at Autograph ABP 2019/20 -alongside Hoxton Arches, he created a short video piece in partnership with Magnum Photos. His work has appeared at The Photographers Gallery’s 2019 Free Range show and he was one of 36 finalists chosen for East Gallery’s “Stuck Between The Lines”. Outside of his artistic endeavours he is a photographer represented at Contact Creatives & W ModelManagement. By night he plays with mood and atmosphere, being a lighting technician for gigs, bands and DJ’s. He is also a founding member of South London based collective S2AU based in Photofusion and queer collectives SPNK / DRTY SLK.
